It brings me great joy working and supporting Shana, and Bird Rock Massage Studio.

In my 35 years of experience in the fitness and alternative health fields, it has come to no surprise, how we all have become much more accountable, and participate more in our health. Shana, and the therapists at Bird Rock Massage, nurture and empower their clients’ quality of well-being.

Jennifer Calabrase

I am a proud San Diegan born and raised. My journey into massage therapy began on a day when I felt strongly compelled to be a healer in this world. That same day I did my research and enrolled in Healing Hands School of Holistic Health. I completed my licensing in 2011, and have since, had the pleasure of working with many Chiropractic and Physical Therapy patients. Through my experience in these fields, I have been able to witness the number of benefits that therapeutic massage offers on the body and the mind. One of my favorite modalities is working with connective tissue. It is the substance that hold us together and creates balance and harmony with our muscles, bones, and organs. It is important to have strong connections between muscle and bone for our bodies to move properly. Therefore, I find it especially important and beneficial to incorporate deep tissue (connective tissue) into each massage I perform. I feel so grateful to be able to work in a field that aids and facilitates in the healing of others. Nothing fulfills me more in my practice, than when a client tells me of the long-lasting relief they experience from their chronic suffering. That is exactly why I began my journey into massage therapy 6 years ago.

“When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, joy.”~Rumi

Milly Reed

I love massage for several reasons. The first is, massage gives us a unique body awareness many of us don’t have on a daily basis. It’s much like yoga and other bodywork practices in that it improves our awareness of what is happening in our bodies.

Second, massage is a beautiful and simple way to improve our recovery from injury and chronic pain. I was blessed with the opportunity to work in a wellness center for the first several years after I graduated from school. I worked with an Acupuncturist, Chiropractor and Physical Therapist. I have a lot of experience working with clients with acute injuries and chronic pain.

Third, massage is effective for many issues that many of us deal with at one time or another. Many people are surprised that simple bodywork can be effective for issues such as Carpal Tunnel, which simple bodywork on the forearms, hands and shoulders can be very effective. Or Headaches which can be reduced with neck, chest and upper shoulder work. Also, Sciatic issues can be reduced with hip, quad and low back work. Plantar pain can improve with extra work on the calves and feet.

I love to help bring all this awareness to the table in my sessions. Working with a deep tissue approach or a lighter, relaxing touch. Depending on your preference. If you are dealing with any of these things I would love to work with you and help you find relief for these common issues.
I have been a Licensed Massage Therapist for 15 years strong and I love to see people’s wellness improve with bodywork.

Denise Ann Warp

Having moved from my small hometown in Pennsylvania to the Bird Rock area in October 2021, it was a must that I am closer to my children and grandchildren. It couldn’t have been a move to a better area in the world; this is Paradise. The additional bonus of moving to California has been that I am able to continue my 17-year love of massage therapy by working with the wonderful ladies at Bird Rock Massage Studio.

While in Pennsylvania, and for the past 17 years, I was the sole proprietor of my home-based massage studio in a part-time capacity. My full-time career was in the insurance industry (which overlapped with my massage vocation) and began in 1980, lasting for nearly 40 years.

I continue to maintain my massage therapy and insurance licenses. My greater love, of the two, is that of bodywork – I am blessed to be here practicing at the studio.

Pre-natal, deep-tissue, pressure-point, Swedish massage and reflexology work combined with the use of essential oils (my homemade recipes!) are the healing gifts I hope to offer and share.

A former instructor once told me, that if you no longer give a massage with and through your heart, leave the profession. How true those words have been proven throughout my years of practice.

Gretchen Allen

Gretchen recently returned to her San Diego roots after a more structured career as a Biology Instructor on the East Coast. Once she discovered that regular massage cured her headaches, Gretchen became a life-long massage enthusiast. In 2018 she became certified in traditional Swedish massage bodywork. She has several years of experience performing pain-management and relaxation massages in a chiropractic setting. Gretchen’s style usually includes a build-up of repetitive dynamic strokes meant to increase blood flow, release adhesions and soften hypertonic muscles. She performs Deep Tissue, Myofacial Release, Prenatal, and limited lymphatic drainage sessions, and soon will be adding cupping to her skill set.

Gabriela Agostinho

Gabriela is a skilled massage therapist who began her studies in South Africa and continues with a passion for healing and body awareness. She is skilled in many different modalities. Her favorites being pure relaxation, prenatal, pressure points within deep tissue, and stretching. Each individual’s body is different and has to be treated accordingly!

Being healthy inside and out is the motto I live by, without denying those little pleasures.
