5 Healthy Habits for 2016
To live a healthy lifestyle, you don’t need to spend hours working out or eating a strict diet. Instead of drastically altering your lifestyle, little tweaks can make a big difference overall. Small changes to your daily routine are all you need to begin living healthier. With springtime coming up just around the corner, try incorporating these simple, healthy habits to see beneficial changes in your body:
- Drink a glass of water before each meal. Eight glasses a day is the typically suggested amount of water one should drink, however it does vary for each person depending on weight. To feel fuller, have a glass of water right before you eat. This full feeling will also help you not to over-eat during your meal.
- Eat a balanced meal. Your body needs different nutrients to function each day. Each of your meals should include veggies, carbs, and protein. It may be difficult to get a balanced lunch when you are in a rush. Try packing your lunch using leftovers from your dinner. This will save time and money while also being nutritious.
- Sleep. Your body needs to rest in order to function well. While you are sleeping, your mood improves, you are more likely to lose weight if you are dieting, and your stress level drastically lowers. Aim for sleeping at least seven hours each night. Not sleeping can affect your body because it won’t be able to restore and heal itself.
- Engage in physical activity. Exercise works wonders for your body. It improves your mood, gives you tons of energy, controls your weight, helps your body fight diseases, and so much more. You can fit exercise into your day by choosing to take the stairs at work instead of the elevator, taking your dog for a walk, speed walking during your errands, and stretching before getting ready each morning.
- Get a massage. A massage not only feels relaxing, it also provides many benefits for your health. Massages help your body de-stress, lower your blood pressure, and improve circulation. Scheduling weekly massages will help keep you physically and mentally healthy.
